BMW NBT EVO GPS & SOS Diagnostic Service

Navigation showing the wrong location? No GPS signal? An SOS malfunction message that keeps returning?

Naviplus offers diagnosis and repair options for BMW vehicles equipped with NBT EVO iDrive, including GPS reception faults, incorrect navigation positioning and telematics-related warnings.

Depending on the fault, the solution may involve antenna or wiring repairs, telematics module work, compatible software updates or vehicle-specific coding.

GPS faults and SOS warnings need proper diagnosis.
They may occur together or have separate causes. An SOS warning alone does not confirm that the head unit or the entire telematics module needs replacing.

Symptoms We Can Assess

  • Incorrect vehicle location: the map shows the vehicle on the wrong road, in another area or stuck at a previous position.
  • GPS reception problems: navigation cannot establish or maintain an accurate position.
  • SOS / emergency-call warnings: persistent or intermittent messages on the cluster or iDrive display.
  • Telematics communication faults: stored errors relating to the installed ATM, TCB or other telematics equipment.
  • Problems after previous work: navigation or warning issues following a head unit replacement, retrofit, coding change or module removal.
Possible Causes
  • Disconnected, damaged or faulty GPS antenna connections.
  • Telematics module power, wiring or communication problems.
  • Missing, incompatible or faulty telematics equipment.
  • Emergency-call backup battery faults on applicable systems.
  • Incorrect configuration following replacement or retrofit work.
  • Software-related positioning or module-operation faults.

The installed telematics hardware varies between vehicles. The cause must be confirmed from the vehicle configuration, fault codes and relevant tests.

Diagnosis & Repair Options

Assessment may include:

  • Reading relevant head unit and telematics fault codes.
  • Checking GPS reception, antenna connections and wiring.
  • Checking telematics module communication and power supply.
  • Assessing backup battery faults where applicable.
  • Reviewing software, coding and any previous retrofit work.

We then recommend the appropriate repair, replacement, programming or coding work for the identified fault.

Parts, software work and any additional repairs are quoted according to the assessment. A software update is not a guaranteed solution to a hardware fault.

Coding & Retrofit Configuration

If the vehicle has a replacement head unit, missing module or modified navigation setup, we can assess compatible coding and GPS configuration options.

Any proposed configuration change will be explained before work proceeds, including its effect on emergency-call and connected functions.

Removing a warning or bypassing a missing module does not restore the emergency-call service. Restoring navigation positioning and restoring SOS operation are separate outcomes.

Compatibility

This service focuses on BMW vehicles fitted with NBT EVO iDrive.

Compatibility is checked using the VIN, installed head unit and telematics equipment. Model year alone does not identify the system or confirm the required repair.

For other BMW iDrive generations, contact us with your vehicle details so we can assess the enquiry separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a map update fix the wrong GPS location?
Not necessarily. Updating road data does not repair an antenna, module or positioning fault. Diagnosis is recommended first.

Does an SOS warning mean I need a new head unit?
No. The warning may relate to separate telematics equipment, its backup battery or another fault.

Can you check a vehicle that has already been coded?
Yes, please provide details of the previous changes and any original or replacement modules.

Will ConnectedDrive or My BMW app functions be restored?
This is not guaranteed by a GPS repair or warning-related coding service. Availability depends on the vehicle, hardware, region and service eligibility.

Before Booking

Please send:

  • Vehicle model, build year and VIN.
  • Photos of the exact SOS warning and navigation screen.
  • Available diagnostic fault codes.
  • When the issue started and whether it is intermittent.
  • Details of previous repairs, coding, imports or retrofits.

Vehicle inspection may be required. Assessment fees, turnaround, repair scope and warranty terms will be confirmed for the agreed work.
