Audi A3 8V MIB Headunit Diagnose & Repair Service (2012 Onwards)

Important Notice:

This service is not a headunit sale but a professional diagnosis and repair service for your existing unit. The headunit must be examined in our workshop, as this is not a replacement service.


Known Issues with Audi A3 8V MIB Headunit (Harman):

  • Audio cutting out on warm or hot days
  • Intermittent switching to a different audio source or volume malfunctions
  • Volume cutting out unexpectedly
  • No audio output from any media source

These issues can often be resolved with our diagnostic and repair process. However, in some cases, additional work beyond a standard repair may be required.

As Skoda and VW use similar headunits, we extend this service to the VW Golf Mk7 / Mk7.5 and Skoda Octavia / Superb models using the same MIB unit.

How to Request Our Service

If You’re in Melbourne:

  • Drop off your car or the headunit itself at our location. If needed, we can assist with headunit removal.


If You’re Interstate (NSW, SA, TAS, QLD, NT, WA):

  • Contact us in advance by email or phone to notify us of the headunit shipment.
  • Provide tracking details and contact information so we can verify the unit upon arrival.

If You’re Overseas:

  • Repairs may still be possible, but please provide your headunit’s Parts ID and VIN in advance, as Australian models may differ from overseas specifications.

Our Repair Process

  1. Diagnosis: We thoroughly inspect and diagnose the headunit, including opening the unit to access the internal components and circuits. Using Audi’s standard scanning setup and genuine MIB components, we replicate the car’s environment to pinpoint issues accurately.
  2. Determine Issue: After diagnosis, we confirm if the issue is software-related (rare) or hardware component failure (more likely).
  3. Results and Options: We inform you of the diagnosis outcome and advise on whether the issue can be resolved through coding, repair, or if a replacement is necessary. Photos or videos documenting the diagnosis and performance tests are shared.
  4. Return Shipment: Once cleared or repaired, we ship the headunit back. Insurance options are available upon request and will be quoted accordingly.
  5. Reinstallation and Testing: Upon receiving the headunit, connect it back to the vehicle to test the audio functionality.

Terms & Conditions

  • Warranty: We offer a 1 year warranty on our service. If issues recur within this period, we will repair at no extra charge, excluding shipping costs.
  • Service Exclusions: Units previously opened or serviced by a third party are not eligible due to associated risks.
  • Shipping Requirements: Units sent without proper notification or documentation will be returned at the sender’s expense.
  • Payment: Full payment is required before the unit leaves our workshop. If insurance is desired, please specify the coverage amount for an accurate shipping quote.
  • Refund Policy: Our services are non-refundable. We conduct thorough testing and share test results with you before the headunit leaves our workshop to ensure satisfaction.
